Daniel Can Crawl

It's official, Daniel has learned how to crawl. He has his own style though. It works for him and he is really excited he can move around the room at will.

Angie and I joke that Daniel's crawling reminds us of a war movie. A soldier who has been shot in the leg and has to pull himself to safety. Below is a video of Daniel coming and going as he crawls around the kitchen.

9 Months

I'm nine months old and some of my favorite things are:

1. Bouncing on the couch
2. Breathing through my nose like a rabbit
3. Banging things together
4. My little cousin, Titan (He's a puppy!)
5. French Fries
6. Avocado
7. My block toy that I can play with standing up
8. Bath time
9. Looking out the window
10. Singing songs with Tia Ivette, my babysitter

I do not care for:

1. Going to bed when there is company
2. Getting my face wiped
3. Ear infections
4. The vacuum cleaner
5. Not being mobile (two days ago, this all changed. Post coming soon.)

Sick Stinks

Daniel and I experienced our first bout of dual illnesses last week. And it was the worst week the two of us have had since Daniel was born. (There is no reason to sugar-coat it.)

The scenario: Daniel got a cold, which he quickly gave to me, then he tagged on an ear infection and fever for added dramatics. That first night when we learned Daniel had an ear infection remains etched in my memory despite the fact that JJ and I were up most of the night calming a boy burning with fever, and taking trips to the grocery store at 2 and then 4 in the morning (trip one: Pedialite, trip two: ear thermometer - love this thing!)

The worst part was that both JJ and I felt helpless, because when your baby has a fever and an ear infection YOU ARE helpless. The doctors tell you to wait, to comfort your child (while he is screaming his head off in discomfort). They tell you not to come in to the hospital unless the temperature reaches 105 ... 105! We adults would be dead by then. It's no fun watching your child wrestle with pain, pain he doesn't understand, pain that his parents can't take from him.

The take-aways: A temperature of 104 is not "high" for a baby when they have an ear infection. It's normal for babies to break out in a rash from Amoxicillin. Ear thermometers are one of the best inventions for new moms since the Boppy Pillow.

Today: I praise God for healing us both. I thank my mom and sister who spent their vacations in Denver taking care of us. And I'm so glad to have my happy, baby boy bouncing around the house once again.

Daniel Does Yoga

Daniel was playing on the couch and all of a sudden he started doing what looked like a yoga pose. He held it for a few seconds and then straightened back up. Even babies have to stay limber.

Daniel is Lil' Birdman

Dad bought a Denver Nuggets onesie and basketball set. With a little bit of hair gel, and the number 11 jersey, you can hardly tell the difference between Daniel and "The Birdman", Chris Anderson. So we've nick named Daniel "Lil' Birdman"

Isn't Family the Best?

"A grandfather is someone with silver in his hair and
gold in his heart."

-Author Unknown

Grandpa Warren came to visit last week and he showed me lots of "Mr. fix-it" tricks around the house.

We installed a new stove vent. Here I am helping grandpa get the directions straight.

We put a lock in our bathroom window to keep the silly thing shut.
I found that I work best in the nude.

Grandma Christin came, too, and we went for walks ...

We celebrated Auntie G's birthday at Maggiano's - yum!

And we had dinner with Grandpa Tiger and Grandma Heidi at a Greek restaurant- Opa!

We had some relaxation time at the house ...

And grandpa played with me in the bath - twice!
Oh, how I love the bath! Grandpa, watch out for the Tsunami!!!

Thanks for coming to visit. I love you, guys!

Daniel.
