On the Farm

Daniel,

It’s fair to say that Grandpa Warren officially lives on a “farm” now. There were guinea hens wandering the property after all. Whatever you want to call grandpa’s beautiful residence in Leverett, MA, you seemed to make yourself right at home.

While at grandpa’s you spent time on his hammock. You enjoyed your first swing (which grandpa hung from the beams in his kitchen). You met Molly, the Burmese Mountain dog. Grandpa read to you, and he took you with him to pick raspberries peaches. And you were the secondary attraction at grandpa’s 60th birthday party.

I’m sure you can’t wait to go back!

Daniel Loves Punching Daddy

Yesterday we found Daniel's favorite game. He sits on Dad's shoulders and "punches" his head, all while watching himself in the mirror.

This is the most we've ever heard Daniel laugh. We're just hoping Daniel's love for punching Daddy is only a passing phase.

Daniel Says Hello to Auntie Jenny

As Daniel showed in his last video, he really likes his family. He laughs at his great Grandma Nanna and has a different way of saying "I Love You" to Auntie Jenny.

This video is right after Auntie Jenny changed her first diaper. Be sure to watch to the very end.

Someth'n Special

Daniel, the moment you saw her you smiled. And you didn’t stop until the trip was over.

You met your great grandmother, Marie Nappe, while you were visiting family on the East Coast last week. And you instantly enlisted her as your best friend. You saw her and immediately you loved her. You mimicked her playful smiles, you laughed at her crazy games and you cuddled into her more than you have ever wanted to cuddle before.

When Marie walked into the room your attention immediately went to her. Even when you were fussy you would offer her a smile if you two made eye contact. I don’t know exactly what elements produced the bond between you two. But I am so glad you found one.

I’ll tell you a little secret, Daniel: my Nanny and I have a special bond, too. And I am not at all surprised that you fell in love with a woman I love, honor and admire so much.

Check out this video of Daniel laughing with his great grandma!

Planes, Trains and Peekaboo

Daniel,

You took your first plane ride last week to see your relatives on the East Coast. We saw Grammy, CB, Auntie Jenny and your great grandmother in New York. We saw your grandpa Warren, grandma Christin and great aunts in Massachusetts. And you met dozens of Momma’s friends along the way, including my buddy Kyle, whose finger you gnawed on much of the night, and my godmother Joyce, whom you played your first outrageously funny round of peekaboo with.

During the week we were gone you grew a lot and started doing many new tricks. You started trying to take steps when we helped you stand on two feet. You started talking (in your own little language) a lot, especially in the mornings when you first woke up in your crib. You finally started to enjoy cuddles – yay! And you found a special place in the hearts of many living more than 2,500 miles away. Not to mention, you were a rock star on the four planes you had to take to and fro.

There are certainly more stories to come of your East Coast adventures.

Love you, big guy!

First Road Trip, Hotel, Canyon and Rodeo!

Daniel, 3 months, at the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival.
Corn by day. Clint Black by night.

Daniel taking in the day's news with daddy on the king size bed at
the Days Inn in Montrose.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We had to include this picture so Daniel can see what the park looks likes, since he slept through that whole adventure.

Hotchkiss rodeo. Yes. Hotchkiss IS in the middle of nowhere.
A beautiful nowhere, however.
