Yesterday was a day of firsts for Daniel. His first day in his new home ...
first sponge bath (He really didn't mind it as much as it looks like he did) ...
first time in his bouncy seat ...
first time out in the Colorado sunshine ...
... and there will be many more firsts to come!

The Lion Is In Quarantine
Daniel's stuffed lion was put into quarantine today because of a little urine incident. As you can see in the picture below, Daniel's bed is usually right next to his Dad's. I was changing Daniel's diaper, Mom looking on from her bed, which is also right next to the crib. His old diaper was off as I grabbed for the new one. (See where this is going?) All of a sudden we heard water spraying somewhere. In fact, Daniel was peeing in a nice big arc from his crib all the way into my bed. My pillows and sheets were soaked and had to be changed by a nurse. Daniel's lion was also directly in the pee path and received a good soaking.
See that blue paper in Daniel's crib? That green star is Daniel's first for passing a test. The first "report card" is going on the fridge first thing when we get home. I wonder if Chuck E Cheese gives free tokens for new born reports too?

Daniel and the Lions
Daniel Meets Some Family
Yesterday Daniel had quite a few visitors. He met pretty much every immediate family member (at least the ones with 20 miles). Daniel saw JJ's Dad, Mom, Gianna, Travis, Megs, Heidi, and Erika. And he got to see Angie's Mom quite a bit too. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of all the visitors, but here are a few of them below.

Various Photo's of Daniel and Family
Meet Daniel Warren Hendricks
We've decided to name Little Bean something a little more formal, Daniel Warren Hendricks.
Daniel is one of our favorite characters in the Bible and it means "God is my Judge".
Warren is Angie's Dad's name.

Visiting Hours
Both Angie and Daniel are trying to recover from their busy day yesterday. The last 24 hours have been really tough on both of them and the nurses think they both need their sleep and some good food. Because of this, we are going to limit visits while we are at the hospital to only immediate family. We're excited for Daniel to meet all our friends and family but it will have to wait until we get back home. Hopefully tomorrow.
It's A Boy
At 3:33 AM Angie gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. He weights 6 lbs 15 oz and is 19 inches long. He is happy, healthy, and very alert. He started eating right away and enjoyed getting to know his Mom a little from the outside.

Tour of the Delivery Room
Here is a brief tour of the nice delivery room we're in and the first room baby bean will see in the whole world.
The room has nice wood cabinets, hard wood flooring, and fancy mirrors and light fixtures. They even have leaves etched into the ceiling panels. Now that is luxury.
We were both really excited for the Jacuzzi tub in the room. Unfortunately it didn't quite meet Angie's dreams. It was too slippery for her to stay upright. And too long for her to reach the end of the tub with her feet and keep her head out of the water. So needless to say she didn't stay in long.
These are all the fancy electronics they have in the room to monitor baby and Angie. The plastic box on the left is the baby's first bed after it's born. It comes with a heating lamp too! The baby will sleep with us the first night, which is great to know.
Angie is hooked up to a couple of monitors while she is in bed. One of them measures her contractions. When it spikes she is having a contraction. Before the epidural this is when Angie would be in lots of pain. This contraction was great because Angie felt nothing.

Angie is Feeling Great ..... Finally
Sorry for the long delay between updates. There hasn't been a down second since we got here.
Baby and Angie are both doing well.
We spent 2 hours in the Triage area until she was dilated enough to move to the "real" room. After two more hours of laboring in the nice room, very intense pain, 16 hours of labor, and exhaustion Angie decided to get an epidural. She is feeling great now and thanking God for the miracles of modern medicine. She even got a fifteen minute nap in!
Now that Angie is no longer in pain and I'm not needed for comfort and support during every contraction I will try to post a few pictures of the room so people can see what it is like.

Baby Bean Is Coming!
We are heading to the hospital right now so Angie can give birth to Little Bean. She's been laboring at home since 2:30 this morning but progressing slower than she had hoped. After a few walks, a trip to Home Depot, an episode of House, and lots of checking the clock the contractions are close enough together that the nurses want us to come in.
Hopefully we will get to meet Little Bean later today.
