Daniel's 4th Birthday

Today Daniel turned 4 years old. For dinner he asked for french toast and pancakes so we had french toast for dinner and pancakes for dessert.

Afterwards Daniel opened presents and got one new battery operated train from Mom and Dad and another new train and 80 track pieces from Pop-pop.

Here are some pictures of the festivities.

Oh, yes. We also had chocolate-chocolate chip muffins for our birthday breakfast!

Chase Sings Alot

Chase loves to sing. He gets the tune just right but can't say any of the words yet. He sings Barney, Mickey Mouse, ABC/Twinkle Twinkle, Happy Birthday, Old McDonald, All Aboard the ChooChoo Train, and a few songs from the new Muppets movie.

This is a sample of his Barney Theme song.

Chase and Daniel Play More Games with a Box

Chase and Daniel have created lots of games with a box, a train, a house, a car, and many more. A new box came in a few weeks ago and they created a whole new round of games.

This one was very simple. Chase pushes Daniel over inside the box.

Daniel & Chase Play Original Nintendo Together

We bought an old school Nintendo for Daniel to play. He loves Super Mario, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, and Kirby's Adventure, which he calls Swallow.

Chase isn't ready to play the games yet, but he loves pretending. Chase reminds me of one of those guys at the arcades who talks to the game and jumps his body around to try and move his character.

Daniel Shows Off His Train City

This video is a bit long, but Daniel specifically asked us to share it with the family and take a video. He put all the small toys in the entire house onto his train table as a "train city".

Chase Pretends He is a Crashing Train

If Chase is extremely energetic he will run around the living room making choo-choo sounds then fall down and say boom. Auntie Erica is the only family member to see this so we thought we should share it with everyone else.

Chase - 1 1/2 Years Old

Chase,

You are definitely giving us a run for our money these days. On the cusp of all kinds of language skills, but not quite fashioning enough words we can understand, you wine a lot to try and get your way. This is common at this stage, but I'm sorry to say, this - along with you having an older brother - often distracts us from focusing on your other qualities that are so special.  Like ...

...Your beautiful humming of children's songs in their entirety.
...Your enthusiasm after accomplishing a new skill.
...Your playfulness.
... How you experience comfort from family, friends and food.
... How you walk Daniel into his class and head right for circle time, sit down and join in as if the class day ahead was meant for you.
... You have the confidence to try anything your big brother does.
... You can already assemble train tracks by yourself.
... You will run after Dad and Daniel - always just a step behind - and join in their games that you don't fully understand, but love every minute of it.
... You reach for our hands to pray at dinner.
... You are beautifully made in the image of God.

Just wanted to take a moment to share with you what a gift you are.

Love you, cute stuff.
